Benefits of Exercise and Having Ideal Weight

Nowadays, maintaining an ideal body weight is essential where by it has becoming a trend among society to lead a healthy life. People from all age group, old or young, tend to hit the gym more often as before. There are a few dangers in not maintaining an ideal body weight and of course exercising brings about many benefits.


  •  Being overweight causes many illnesses like heart disease, diabetes, cancer and gall stones and many more. 
  • Being overweight causes psychosocial effect. In a culture where people who are thin and fit are ideally looking, people who are overweight or obese are often suffering from the discrimination of the other. They are often classified as people who are lazy and thus looking for a job or being in a relationship normally do not turn out well.
  • Being overweight or obese cause metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome consists of six major components: abdominal obesity, elevates blood cholesterol and blood pressure, insulin resistance with or without glucose intolerance, elevation of certain blood components that indicate inflammation, and elevation of blood clotting factor in blood. Therefore, it brings about many illnesses as stated above. 


  • An ideal weight generally improves one heart health, decreases diabetes and also reduces the risk of breast cancer. The Journal of American College of Cardiology has stated that nearly 150,000 Korean adult who has a healthy body mass index has no known of heart disease.  Furthermore, it was quoted  by Prevent Cancer foundation, that increase in abdominal fats increases breast cancer chances (43%)
  • Ideal weight can provide you better sleep. It is stated by Prof. Kerry J. Steward of Johns Hopkins University that the higher the content of fats in an individual, the harder the lungs to expand. It may also lead to nightmare problems as such sleep apnea.
  • Improved fertility. According to The American Society for Reproductive Medicine high fat content affect your fertility by affecting your period and ovulation cycle.
  •  Increase your lifespan! 


  • Exercise can help you control weight. When engaging in an intensive physical activity, you will burn more calories and thus helping you in controlling your weight.
  • Exercise expels health condition.
  • Improves your mood. Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier and more relaxed.
  • Exercising boosting your energy. Regular physical activity can improve your muscle strength and boost your endurance by increasing the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to your tissues.

Hence, when you exercise generally it brings a healthier you and a healthier society with a healthier weight.
